Comic Book Case

Wonder Woman #5 (Interesting and yet not)
Etta meets up with her superior Sasha to discuss Steve Trevor's whereabouts and location and also how it's connected to Wonder Woman who will help once she knows he's there. Etta talks about how Diana won't need to be told, but that she and Steve have a special connection that they will just always be there when the other needs them. Cadulo and Steve talk about his plans with Urzkartaga and how he plans to use Steve as his vessel. Meanwhile Diana and Barbara walk and talk about what they've been through, about how Barbara is losing herself to Cheetah and Diana talks about how things in her life don't make sense, like how she could return to Themyscira even though it should be impossible, and how things in her memory don't match up. Back with Etta and Sasha, Etta leaves and we find that Sasha is reporting to a mysterious being who says that things are moving along fine and that Steve and Wonder Wman are both needed for phase two. Diana and Cheetah get inside Urzkarkarga's lair and save Steve's men as Steve being prepared to be a new vessel.

This issue was fun enough but I've come to realize it drags itself on a bit in a way that I like and don't like. The scene with Sasha and Etta were nice in that they fleshed out Diana and Steve's relationship and furthered the plot but I wonder if ti couldn't have been trimmed down a bit. Diana and Cheetah's back and forth are nice and I finally care about Barbara Ann as Cheetah and a character. The real meat of the story is the back and forth between Steven and Cadulo and you see how different they are and we get the best summary of Steve'e relationship with Wonder Woman: it's complicated. Whether that is a reference to Diana's life not making sense or the fact that he told her he loved her, she turned him down and a bunch of other stuff, some of which I'd hope are resolved here; are explored.

Detective Comics #935 (Could this be the end?)
Our story starts with a another flashback but this time to the funeral of Thomas and Martha Wayne and we see Kate console Bruce and that may have been the last time the two saw each other face to face. Back to the present Kate talks to Bruce about not telling her her father was behind Colonly while Tim and the others find out more about the Colony and they find out that they are sending a bunch of drones to kill those they perceive as members of the League of Shadows. While trying to stop the drones, we get a really nice and awesome scene of Clayface pretending to be Batman and when that fails resorts back to Clayface and just scares them out. Batman and co are doing a good job but there are just too many drones so Tim reprograms all the drones on one spot, himself.

This series is proving to have the right abmount of action and work and like I said in previous issues, everyone has something to do. The book realy divides it's attention to the idea of the future, the future of Clayface, the future of Batman and Batwoman, and the future of Tim as Red Robin. Tim here shows that he is going to take the college offer and that the Belfry and the computer are his last gifts as Red Robin so he prepares for one last great stand as Red Robin while Batman desperately tries to get there in time.

Captain America: Steve Rogers #4 (Still Cap but not Cap)
Instead of a review I'm instead going to just talk about where this book is now and how my opinion of it has changed since the first issue. If you remember, when this issue came out I was one of the few who was excited because I thought it was going to go in depth into the diversity of people who join political groups and that just because people like Red Skull (or Donald Trump cause the book wasn't subtle) can make sense to people with legitimate issues that the government aren't addressing. When we got the reveal that Cap was part of HYDRA all along I thought we were going to see that Cap at one point may have agreed with the ideas of early HYDRA but not anymore or he may have been programmed without knowing it. Instead we find out that he Red Skull used a Cosmic Cube to change his memories and made it HYDRA to be personified in a lot of ways to just be a group of people who ultimately just stopped his dad from beating up his mom. While we don't know when Cap became a member just yet, we get that the HYDRA in his memories is really just a nice lady who helped his mom.

Now that Cap is a member of HYDRA we see that he isn't a total HYDRA soldier like Red Skull thinks. He is saving people and slightly questioning Red Skull's decisions but not enough to warrant questioning. What happens that is interesting is that we see Cap is planning to overthrow Red Skull because he believes he is "corrupting" HYDRA. This is great because Cap here is showing that he is still Cap, but in HYDRA.

Hal Jordan the Green Lanterns: #3 (Not much sense)
John Stewart is trying to reach Guy but it seems communication is lacking as not only can his ring not find Guy, they don't even know where in space they are. Meanwhile Hal is fighting off a group of the Sinestro Corp and at first it seems good, Hal isn't some newbie after all and he can't have the Sinestro Corp taking innocent people. Meanwhile Sinestro meets with a religious grooup who Sinestro seems to want to help and is provind "sacrifices" for. Meanhile, Hal gets overwhelmed by the Sinestro Corp as their rings increase in power and Hal is knocked down.

So what hurts this book is a lack of logic from not only what is states early on but what was left in Cullen Bunn's run on Sinestro which was beautiful. Soranik and Sinestro both imply and even state that the Sinestro Corp has the trust of the universe and is one of the reasons Sinestro put Soranik in charge in the first place With that in mind, you would think that they would have at least some of the people's trust and love but instead we see them being feared just as they show up. Again we also have an issue where there isn't much story so I'm probably going to review this just every two issues as opposed to every single issue.

Announcement
So I've come to realize that this segment is kind of boring because sometimes I'm just going over the same old books so starting next month I'm going to try to introduce at least one new book as often as possible or talk about a series I've been reading. We're also increasing our net to not just DC and Marvel but also to manga as well.
